Mental Health Care Rooted in Justice, Connection, and Collective Healing

Redefined peoples

Mental Health
Redefined.

At Phoenix Rising Centers, we believe mental health is not an individual problem. It is a collective calling.

We understand that wellness cannot be separated from systems of power, colonial legacies, and the violence of racial capitalism. Many of us carry inherited wounds shaped by displacement, generational trauma, and institutions that were never designed with us in mind.

Redefining mental wellness means rejecting frameworks that pathologize our pain while ignoring the systems that produce it. We choose to ground our work in abolitionist values. This means centering care rather than punishment, building community rather than reinforcing isolation, and striving for liberation instead of assimilation.

Our approach is rooted in self-determination, cultural integrity, and relationship. We honor the wisdom held in our bodies, the knowledge passed through our communities, and the power of collective healing.

We are committed to creating spaces where BIPOC, queer, neurodivergent, disabled, immigrant, and working-class communities are not only visible but held, resourced, and affirmed.

Why? Because our lives depend on it. We are the catalysts for the change we seek.

Our mission

Phoenix Rising Centers exists because traditional systems of mental health care have failed the very communities most impacted by trauma, marginalization, and systemic violence. As providers, we are not neutral participants in these systems. We are part of the movement to dismantle and reimagine them.

We are queer and trans therapists, BIPOC clinicians, disabled and neurodivergent practitioners, and co-conspirators who carry both professional skill and lived experience. Our work is not simply clinical. It is cultural, political, and relational. We practice care as a form of resistance, and therapy as a pathway toward individual and collective liberation.

Our mission is to provide mental wellness that honors the fullness of who our clients are. We understand that healing does not happen in a vacuum. It is shaped by colonization, white supremacy, capitalism, ableism, and the carceral logic that tells us we must be fixed, quiet, or compliant in order to be well. We reject those frameworks.

Instead, we offer care that centers dignity, agency, and self-determination. We work alongside our clients, not to pathologize their pain, but to understand it in context. We help reconnect people to ancestral wisdom, community strength, and the right to be seen in their complexity.

Our vision

The Phoenix Rising Center Network is a catalyst for change. We're on a mission to shatter the barriers that marginalized individuals and communities face. By providing culturally humble mental well-being care, training therapists to lead change, and advocating for policies that support the well-being of all people, we're working to create a more just and equitable world.

We're passionate about:

  • Empowering and amplifying marginalized individuals' voices: Everyone deserves access to quality emotional well-being and health care, regardless of their background or ability to pay.

  • Training the next generation of therapists: We're dedicated to equipping therapists with the tools they need to provide exceptional care while nurturing their own well-being.

  • Advocating for systemic change: We advocate for policies that promote mental well-being and address inequality's root causes.

Together, we can build a brighter future for all.

    Incredibly impressed

The passion, skills, and intention that PRC manifests around revolutionizing mental health care center from a social justice, anti-racist, and LGBTQIA2S+ informed and affirming framework is crucial to supporting communities who have long been underserved and harmed in the helping professions. I have been incredibly impressed by PRC's tenacity to break ground on fostering models which acknowledge the legacies of power, privilege, and oppression, and actively decolonizing therapeutic spaces, with expansive collaboration for, and by, these resilient communities.”

    Helped and understood me

I was hesitant to seek therapy, but I'm so glad I found Phoenix Rising Centers. As a QTPOC individual, it was incredibly important to me to find a therapist who understood my intersecting experiences and challenges. From the moment I called in, I felt welcomed and understood. The staff was incredibly kind and supportive, and my therapist was truly exceptional. They created a safe and judgment-free space where I could openly discuss my thoughts and feelings without fear of being misunderstood. I've seen significant improvements in my mental health, and I'm so grateful for the support I've received.
