Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy for ADHD, Autism & AuDHD
Online in Rhode Island, Massachusetts,
Colorado, and Georgia
Care that understands attention, sensory systems, and burnout as shaped by lived conditions, not personal failure.
Many people with ADHD, autism, or AuDHD arrive in therapy carrying years of misunderstanding. They have been told they are difficult, inconsistent, overly sensitive, or capable enough that their struggles should not count. Often, they have learned to doubt their own needs long before anyone listened.
At Phoenix Rising Centers, we offer neurodivergent-affirming therapy that treats ADHD and autism as ways of moving through the world. Attention, regulation, and energy are understood in relation to environment, history, and stress, rather than reduced to individual shortcomings.
We provide online therapy across Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Our work centers consent, pacing, and supports that translate into real daily life.
What We Support
| Area of Support | How It Often Shows Up |
|---|---|
| ADHD-affirming therapy | Difficulty starting or finishing tasks, time slipping away, emotional intensity, cycles of burnout, shame tied to expectations of constant productivity, uneven energy |
| Autism-affirming therapy | Sensory overload, shutdown, exhaustion from masking, social strain, confusion around identity, not being taken seriously or believed |
| AuDHD support | Shifting needs, tension between structure and novelty, chronic overwhelm, feeling out of step with standard therapeutic approaches |
| Burnout and nervous system overload | Periods of coping followed by collapse, work or school exhaustion, reduced capacity that does not resolve with rest alone |
| Emotional regulation and rejection sensitivity | Strong emotional responses, heightened sensitivity to feedback, lingering impact of conflict or misunderstanding |
| Identity and late diagnosis processing | Grief, anger, relief, and the slow work of making sense of past experiences through a new lens |
Each session is shaped around choice, collaboration, and safety.

Our Approach
Neurodivergent-affirming therapy at Phoenix Rising focuses on understanding how your mind and body respond to the world you are in. We work toward sustainability, not endurance, and toward clarity rather than self-correction.
Depending on your needs, therapy may include:
• ADHD-affirming CBT and executive function support that adapts to fluctuating attention and energy
• Sensory-aware regulation and burnout recovery for autistic and AuDHD clients
• Somatic work for overwhelm, shutdown, and chronic stress
• Narrative approaches that loosen the grip of internalised shame
• Relationship and communication tools across different neurotypes
• Psychoeducation around masking, fatigue, and disability-related stress
Progress is not measured by compliance, eye contact, or output.
Your ways of coping and moving through the world are taken seriously here.

Meet Our
Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapists
Many of our clinicians bring both lived experience and focused training in working with ADHD, autistic, and AuDHD clients.
Our therapists practice from trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming perspectives that attend to how disability, race, gender, and social position shape access, stress, and care. Therapy is approached as a collaborative relationship rather than an evaluative one.
