Mildred has a wonderful knack for working with people of all ages, from children and tweens to adolescents, young adults, middle-aged individuals, and elders. She brings her expertise to a range of areas, including addiction, ADHD, adoption support, aging, and alcohol/substance use concerns. Mildred also addresses important issues like anger, anxiety, body positivity, career counseling, and support for child-free individuals, as well as children of parents facing addiction. She’s experienced in handling chronic illness, couples' relationships, family counseling, grief, trauma, and life coaching. Her focus extends to spiritual and religious trauma, teen violence, and support for transgender individuals. Additionally, she provides individual and family therapy, peer support, mindfulness practices, and unique offerings like talking circles drawing from Indigenous practices. Mildred is also a supportive therapist and coach for activists, healthcare workers, first responders, educators, and fellow therapists.

Mildred's rich lived experiences span the Black African Diaspora, as well as identities including asexual, aromantic, gray, demi, Asian, autistic, bicultural, biracial, and living with chronic pain or illness. As a seasoned adult and a proud person of color, she brings a deep understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds she serves. She has a wealth of cultural knowledge about African American, diasporic, and Black cultures too. Mildred employs a variety of therapeutic and healing methods such as Motivational interviewing, addiction counseling, anger management, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family therapy, mindfulness, positive discipline, positive psychology, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), strength-based therapy, and trauma-informed care, all dedicated to helping her clients thrive with compassion and expertise.

My Approach in Practice

In our work together, I hold space that is both rooted and expansive, a place where your story is honored in the context of culture, community, and the larger systems shaping your life. My approach is relational and collective, guided by deep listening, cultural humility, and respect for lived wisdom. Healing with me does not mean rushing to erase pain, but slowing down enough to notice how histories, relationships, and identities live in the body, and how they can also be sources of resilience and strength.

I may bring in practices from CBT, family systems work, talking circles grounded in Indigenous traditions, and mindfulness, but always adapt them to you, not the other way around. Sometimes our time together looks like untangling patterns of generational trauma or systemic harm; other times it looks like grounding in breath, noticing what sustains you, or practicing new ways of relating to yourself and others.

I believe therapy is not just about individual survival but about reclaiming wholeness and possibility in community. My role is to walk beside you with compassion, curiosity, and steadiness, helping you reconnect to your agency and to practices of care that can carry you forward, on your own terms, and at your own pace.
